At a time when the Body of Christ is increasingly divided along ideological lines, we delve deep in to Scripture to explore together our identity as children of God, what it means to be a disciple of Jesus, and how we can experience and proclaim the Kingdom of God—on earth as in heaven.

We seek to live out a Gospel informed by God's Word, the Spirit, and our Streets/world. This involves learning to read the Bible with Jesus as our Teacher, the Holy Spirit as our guide, and deliberately attuning ourselves to the realities and needs of our streets and world.

Contemplative reading of Scripture, prayer, worship and socially engaged and Spirit-empowered actions are best practiced together to dismantle systems that oppress the poor. Theological reflection, inspired by the Spirit and the lived reality of people on the margins, has the power to energize and awaken the Body of Christ (in all its varied forms) to its true calling and mission in this world.

The course weaves together five key themes related to ministry on the margins:

  1. God’s identity and mission—and ours

  2. Healing and holistic liberation—biblical foundations and principles

  3. Social prophetic mission—justice, advocacy, and peacemaking

  4. Word on the street—preparing and leadings transformational Bible studies

  5. Practical reflection—how does this work in my life and ministry?
